SubMas Day 7.
#July.
On the seventh day of SubMas my true love gave to me; Some Seemingly Mundane Days.
I was a bit wary over what would become of today’s SubMas. The last 6 days have been an interesting retelling of how eventful the first 6 months of my 2025 were. We had moved from one big happening to the other, some months even had two major highlights. Then, there I was, going through my journal entries in July and I couldn’t seem to pick out a major highlight. I even had to double check my gallery just to make sure I wasn’t missing any major events, and no, I wasn't.
The days in my July were a repetition of themselves. That may sound boring to some, but I honestly love the Woman I found within the pages of my journal in that month. Nothing big was necessarily happening, but she was thriving.
She had built routines and had kept streaks of a daily win. On the days she wasn’t a hundred, she didn’t beat herself up as she used to. To my surprise, she was actually giving herself more grace than previous times.
Although nothing major had taken place personally, her loved ones were hitting milestones and that was able to add color to her days. To God’s glory, her older Sister had graduated Law school and had also gotten a long-awaited scholarship to further her education. Her younger Sister had entered her final year in the University while her last Sister had graduated secondary school. Her only brother had come out first in his class and Her Parents had celebrated their business’ 10th year anniversary.
Every day in the month of July, this Lady had shown up for her postings, even when she was bone tired. She had strived to be at her best, going the extra mile just so her vessel can be used to God’s glory.
She had also found some captivating novels to read which kept her really engaged. Whenever she had gone to the cafeteria to get food and found her food combo which comprised of; fried/jollof rice, white-beans, stew, tail fish +/- boiled egg, her smiles were wide and some happy dance steps were performed right there in the cafeteria.
Interestingly, it was in this month She was able to play the one sport that gives her joy, which is basketball. She had strived to be a good friend to her friends, showing up for them in whatever way she could. She had also chosen the path of forgiveness even when she wasn’t in the wrong and no apology had been meted.
Her days were filled with joy, laughter and a daily choice to leave above her feelings and to find peace within and without.
All in all, July may not have been the most eventful month, but I enjoyed every bit of it. And in actual facts, ‘‘boring’’ is a thing of perspective. Just slow down, stop scrolling, go offline and take a nice walk. I promise, you’ll see more than enough reasons to appreciate this life you’ve been gifted.
Today, I’m grateful for the big wins that everyone sees, and also the supposedly mundane ones that only God and I are privy to. These seemingly ordinary days are also part of the ebb and flow of life and should be embraced graciously.
Life was good in July and it’s still good today, which is kind of a mimicry of that month. For each of my days, I’m learning to appreciate the gift of life and to just to be content with whatever chapter of my story I find myself in.
I love God, I love Me and I love that I get to have normal days.
Thank you for reading, I pray your weekend is fulfilling, Amen.
Merry almost Christmas People.
